Beginning of July, the reception network of Fedasil is counting 31,036 residents. These asylum seekers are entitled to material assistance during the examination of their asylum application. This assistance consists in receiving and accompanying them in a reception structure managed by Fedasil or entrusted to a partner. Asylum seekers do not receive any financial assistance.

The reception places are distributed among 102 collective centres (Fedasil, the Red Cross, other partners), but also individual houses organised by associations and Public Centres for Social Welfare. The centres account for 87% of the reception capacity, while individual houses account for 13%.

Profiles

Fedasil receives families and single persons. 55% of the residents are members of a family (parents and children), 31% are single men, 11% are single women and 3% are unaccompanied minors (UM). UM receive special accommodation and accompaniment.

One third of our residents are minors (with family members or unaccompanied).

Asylum seekers come from different countries, mostly from Palestine (9%), Syria (9%), Eritrea (9%), Congo (9%), Guinea (8%), Afghanistan (7%) and Burundi (6%). Dozens of nationalities are present in our reception centres.

Most of the people received (83%) are awaiting a decision from the asylum authorities.
