Reach Out 2025

Last year, the Reach Out-team of Fedasil reached and informed no less than 2,200 persons in Brussels and Flanders.

Reach Out colleagues reached a total of 2,200 migrants in precarious situation last year, accounting for more than 1,700 accompaniments and nearly 2,800 contact moments.

Target group

In 2025, the Reach Out-team reached people from no less than 88 different nationalities. In Flanders, as in 2024, Afghanistan, Palestine & Syria are the top three. In Brussels, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Palestine come first.

Reach Out consolidates and strengthens its role in accompanying applicants for international protection who are staying outside the reception network. This target group has grown significantly in recent years and now accounts for half of all accompaniments.

A variety of topics are discussed during the counselling sessions: access to and reimbursement of medical care, support with the international protection procedure and referral to (emergency) reception places. Colleagues of Reach Out try to inform, accompany and adequately refer migrants.

The target group is often in a particularly precarious residence situation, with a high presence of homeless people in Brussels.

Reach Out Brussels combines outdoor sessions with indoor permanences; in Flanders, the colleagues focus on permanences in different cities such as Antwerp, Leuven and Ghent. In Wallonia, Fedasil has also launched its first activities.
