IOM, Orbit vzw and Fedasil join forces for a pilot project on housing for recognised refugees in Belgium.
The PATHS (Providing Assistance for Transitioning Housing Solutions) project, funded by ESF+, aims to accompany recognised refugees on their way to sustainable housing and independent living. The project takes place in Belgium, as well as in France and Greece.
Goals
During the project period (11/2024-10/2027), PATHS aims to achieve the following goals, among others:
Launch a national housing matching platform in Belgium
Capacity building of existing housing organisations
Raise awareness among the real estate sector, private landlords, diaspora organisations ... about access to affordable and sustainable housing.
Housing - Fedasil
Residents who have received a positive decision are finding it increasingly difficult to fit into the already saturated housing market. The transition from the reception centre to an independent housing is a major challenge for both residents and staff. Therefore, projects around transition and housing are essential.
Fedasil has recently set up a housing team. The PATHS project offers this new team an opportunity to get to know relevant stakeholders, map the network and build a workable platform that can make a difference in the field. Fedasil will play a matching role within the project.
