Arayik (°1972) and Artur - Armenia
“For us, Belgium meant the difference between life and death. When Artur developed a tumour in his leg, we couldn’t afford the treatment. Poor farmers like us don’t have that kind of money. We sold our cows to pay for the travel. My boy spent a whole year in a hospital in Belgium. An amputation was unavoidable, but he was given a prosthesis. Now we are back home. My wife and mother have looked after the other children on their own for long enough. Those were difficult years, but fortunately we are together again.”
