Conex, a network of partners
Within the Conex project, Fedasil aims to link, or rather connect several actors in the Belgian migratory landscape. Conex is a network of partners pursuing the same goal: correctly inform undocumented migrants and refer them to professional support services.
Conex informs and guides
All migrants are entitled to accurate and up-to-date information, regardless of their legal status. Only when correctly informed about all possibilities can they start thinking about the most durable way to shape their future, here or in their country of origin.
Therefore, undocumented migrants are also entitled to have information on basic services in various fields: psychological, administrative, legal, professional, material, medical, cultural, but also regarding the voluntary return programme.
Conex builds bridges
To guarantee this right, Conex is developing a network of partners that connects the actors involved at different levels: undocumented migrants, support services, Conex partners and Fedasil.
Fedasil coordinates Conex's partners – the IOM and Caritas, but also five major cities: Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Liège and Charleroi - and organises meetings on a regular basis to exchange new insights and good practices.
These Conex partners, with which Fedasil has a structural collaboration, manage in turn the different support services active in their own region. They identify these support services and organisations and facilitate their mutual collaboration. Besides, they make sure these instances are correctly informed on every possible option, path and programme.
It is only when these local services have the accurate and up-to-date information that they can correctly inform, accompany and if necessary, refer undocumented migrants.
