The resettlement of refugees slowed down

Fedasil resettlement
The resettlement operations of refugees in Belgium have slowed down due to the saturation of the network of Fedasil.

Since December 2021, the resettlement operations of refugees in Belgium have slowed down due to the lack of available places in the reception network of Fedasil.

The selection of people waiting for a transfer to Belgium is not called into question but the transfer to our country is unfortunately delayed. Transfers will resume depending on the evolution of the situation in the reception network.

Resettlement? Resettlement is a programme run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). It involves selecting and transferring refugees from a State where they have sought protection to another State which agrees to receive them as refugees. In recent years, it is mainly Syrian families from Turkey, Lebanon or Jordan who have arrived in Belgium.
