2008 was an eventful year for the Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers. The number of asylum seekers that were legally qualified for reception continually increased throughout the year, causing our reception capacity to reach record levels. Fedasil and its partners made every possible effort to keep providing a quality reception and assistance for every asylum seeker.
This annual report provides an overview of our organization’s main contributions to help sustain a desired degree of occupation of the reception network. The report also looks at the broad range of other activities carried out by Fedasil in 2008 like, for instance, organizing the voluntary return programmes, assessing the Reception Act, and amassing knowledge and expertise for future challenges such as resettlement.
